Mangalore: Congress leader Hameed Kannur told reporters
at a press conference held at Press Club in Mangalore on July 19, Thursday that
Sharif Migdad and Ayub Hussain, who have been in a Jeddah prison for the past
11 years, might be released in two months.
Mr. Kannur was accompanied by Mr. Hussain of Adyar Kannur and Akbar and Abdul Khader, relatives of Sharif Migdad. Migdad and Hussain were imprisoned on charges of illegally routing telephone calls.
According
to Hameed Kannur, a delegation comprising Hameed Kannur, TP member Mohammed
Monu, and KPCC member M. A. Gafoor went to Delhi and discussed the issue with
MP Oscar Fernandes and E. Ahmed, state minister for the external affairs.
Thanks to the joint efforts of E. Ahmed, MP Oscar Fernandes, and a Muslim organization based in Saudi Arabia, the prisoners will be released in 2 months, he said.
Thirteen more people from DK are also imprisoned in Saudi jails. Mr. Hameed and Mr. Monu have assured that they will also work for their release. –MT-
