Efforts on for extension of night train to Karwar – MP Hegde


Udupi : Speaking at an event called Jago Sansad Jago organized by the Udupi Consumers’ Forum on July 23, Monday, Udupi – Chikmagalur MP Jayaprakash Hegde said that he has requested the chairman of the Railway Board to extend the Bangalore to Mangalore night train to Karwar.
Further, MP Hegde said that he has provided all details regarding the extension of the night train to Karwar to the Railway Board, which will soon request a report regarding the same from the railway officers. He said that impressing officials about the need to extend the train is important before approaching the minister.

Udupi Railway Yatri Sangha President R. L. Dias urged the MP to exert pressure on the union railway ministry to add a stop at Udupi for the Kochuveli to Dehra Dun Express, Pune to Ernakulum Express, and Kochuveli to Amritsar Express.

Neelawar Surendra Adiga, president of the Udupi district unit of the Kannada Sahitya Parishad, urged the MP to request the union government to implement a national languge policy so that Kannada medium schools can be protected. 

In response to another query, he said that the Varahi Irrigation Project in Udupi must be speeded up and that salt water prevention vented dams must be constructed across rivers to prevent salinity in water.-MT-
