Udupi: The Lokayukta police caught a land surveyor at the sub registrar’s office red-handed when he was accepting bribe from a land owner on July 25.
SP Jagamayyenvar and his team caught Land Surveyor Shanmuga when he was receiving Rs. 2000 from a land owner.
Nagaraj Bhat of Katpady had approached the surveyor for sketches of a 36-cents plot belonging to his mother-in-law. He had submitted an application for the same on July 24. However, Shanmuga demanded Rs. 2000 to survey the land and do the sketches. Mr. Bhat lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta police who set a trap for the land surveyor and succeeded in catching him red-handed.
The Lokayukta team comprised Dinesh Kumar, Thimmayya, Nagesh, Diwaker, Shridhar, Shobha, Santhosh, Shivaraya Poojary, and others. – MT-
