Microsoft’s tablet launch today aimed at iPad but may hurt Indian Xpad

If on Monday (today), US tech giant Microsoft does launch a tablet and calls it the ‘Xpad’, will there be another copyright battle?

Online reports say that the most popular theory is that Microsoft is unveiling its own tablet computer to rival the iPad, or maybe Amazon’s Kindle Fire, or possibly both. And the most rumoured name is the Microsoft Xpad, or the Xtab.

Simmtronics Semiconductors Limited, an Indian company, have already named their new tablet: XPad.
According to GeekWire.com, Microsoft is positioned, at least, to attempt something interesting, and it’s certainly putting its neck on the line with its promises.

Applebites.com states that Microsoft would unveil a Windows 8 Tablet on Monday. The US company sent summons to media to attend a surprise event in Los Angeles and so far has managed to keep things super-secret.

Online reports further suggest that the tablet will be more a eReader with multimedia capabilities.
The tab would be able to access Xbox Live content and work with Barnes & Noble’s eBook platform.

XPad, selling for Dh299, is one the most affordable tablets now available in the Middle East.
“We found that rather than calling our product - Sim Pad or Simmontric Pad - we decided to name it ‘XPad’. It’s a short name and is very easy to recall just like the iPad,” Arif Khan, Director, Simmtronics, told this wesbite.-Emirates24/7-
