Udupi :Campus Front of India, Udupi Unit on
24th July Monday held protest opposite Udupi Bus Stop condemning the
attitude of the College Principal and the Administrative Council of
Ramakunjeshwara First Grade College (RFGC), Uppinanagady for registering
false criminal charges against students and those who supported them in
the protest. It all started over the college decision to ban Muslim
girls wearing headscarf inside the classrooms at RFGC. This ban imposed
by that college has outraged the students to protest against the
principal and management.
Supporting this issue, All College
Students’ Association (ACSA), on July 20 protested in Mangalore. They
held silent protest marches. But still the college Principal and
Administrative Council of RFGC have not made any attempt to reverse
their decision on headscarf ban, instead have registered false cases
against the students, the State Student President, Campus Front of India
and other innocents. ACSA insisted that the concerned authorities at
RFGC should act immediately and resolve the ongoing controversy of
wearing headscarf by Muslim women students, Farhan honnala said.
CFI Udupi distirct unit president Farhan Honnala, Munavvar Udupi,
Vahab Moolur, Ashiq, Thousif and others took part in the protest. -KT-
