Eid Milan celebrated in Mumbai, Attended over by ATS officers

Mumbai: A spectacular Eid Milan get together was organized at Mumbai by the Bhatkal Muslim Jamat Mumbai on 22nd of September in an auditorium which was located near the metro cinema. Various dignitaries including the ATS officials, famous lawyer Mubeen Solkar, community leader SM Syed Khaleelurrahman, former president of Bhatkal Tanzeem Parvez Kashimji and many others were present on the occasion. The Eid Milan party began with the dinner at 7.30pm and the main function started at around 9.30 with the recitation of the verses of Holy Quran by Hafiz Moulvi Junaid Nadwi. The general secretary of BMJ Dubai, Rahmatullah Rahi presented the welcoming note and convened the program.

The Mumbai advocate, Mubeen Solkar, who had defended Abdul Samad of Bhatkal who was arrested under the tag of terrorism, addressing on the occasion, praised the Bhatkali people and said that he had got the chance to know a lot of things about Bhatkal with Abdul Samad�s case. He recalled that Abdul Samad was linked to the German Bakery blast case, the home minister P Chidambaram had congratulated the ATS for the task of arresting him, media was highlighting the issue from all the sides, but the ATS Chief Rakesh Maria did not come under the pressure of anybody and himself expressed that if the victim was innocent he should be released. The ATS got the chance to know about the Bhatkali people after the release of Abdus Samad and it was then, they got to know that the majority of Bhatkali people were businessmen by profession. From the time, Rakesh Maria had been supporting the Bhatakali people. He even requested the Bhatkali�s to provide their support to the ATS. Mr. Solkar expressed his joy over the presence of ATS officials on the occasion and said that this would bring them closer to the Bhatkali locals and provide an opportunity to know them better.

ATS DCP, Mr. Rajendra Dhapade said that the police are in search of people who give rise to imbalance in the society. �We are not here to target any particular society, nor are we interested in arresting any innocent person. We need the co operation from people in informing us about the people who are involved in creating disturbances, if they have any information about them�, he added.

The community leader SM Khaleelur Rahman introduced Bhatkal and its people in general and informed that the Bhatkali�s were businessmen and they were in need of peace. But targeting the entire community for those three men who are wanted by police and defaming the entire community on that basis was not a right thing to do. He further said that the people were unaware whether those three men were actually involved in terrorism in any sense or not, but they surely knew that two among them were the residents of Mumbai. Addressing the ATS officers he said that every society has its own good and bad people, and requested them that they not blame and target the entire community for those countable few. He appreciated the members of the jamat for inviting the ATS officials and thanked the ATS officials for joining them on the occasion, also asked them to co operate with the community in future.

Mr. Parvez Kashimji cleared out that the suffix Bhatkal would not be present with the name of any of the Bhatkali person, and if the police was in search of any particular person, let them use their surnames. He requested the police not to defame the entire community by adding the town name as the suffix to the names of the wanted persons.

The senior inspector of the Nagpada police station Mr. Vadpe and the inspector Kedad Pawar, college professor Mr. Rizwi Mehdi, chairman of peace committee Fareed Shaikh, the Moulana of the Masjid of locality Ajaz Kashmiri and others expressed their views on the occasion.

Mr. Shabandari Patel Muhammed Farooq presided over the function.

Various games and competitions were organized at the end of the program for the entertainment of the members which included open quiz, one minute show and the comedy show. Number of prizes was distributed to the members by the lucky draws. Muhammed Nayeem Barni bagged the first prize of Nano car, second prize was splendor bike and the third prize of ten grams gold set was recieved by Muhammed Hood Sukri. Two umrah tickets and various other prizes pleased all the winning members. Overall the Eid Milan Program of Mumbai was a big hit. - SO
