Mangalore:Sept.20: ‘Bharath Bandh’ is mostly successful in D.K. and
Udupi districts today. The opposition parties at the center have called
for a nation wide bandh protesting against the policies of the Congress
led UPA Govt. at the centre for increasing the diesel prices,foreign
investment in retail sector and the restriction of 6 LPG cylinders per
year.
School and colleges remained closed in Udupi and D.K. districts. Private
buses kept off the road in both the districts. All India Goods lorries
Association joined the strike and as a result the transportation of
goods and vegetables came to a stand still from the midnight of Sept.19. - KT
