Seven people go missing on way from Vijayawada to Bhatkal

Bhatkal: Seven persons, including five minors who were travelling from Vijayawada to Bhatkal on train have reportedly gone missing under unusual circumstances. The incident took place before some twelve days and no clues have been found about the whereabouts of these missing people even after the lapse of twelve days. Even the two mobile phones present with these people were continuously switched off from past twelve days.

Muhammed Imran Mashaikh, the resident of Farooqi Street, informed the media people that his wife had been to Vijayawada on 1st of September to see her ailing mother along with her two younger children, leaving behind the remaining three school going children at Bhatkal along with their father. After staying there for ten days, she and her kids left for Bhatkal on 11th of Sep, accompanied by her own sister and her two kids, and another girl who was her relative. Altogether seven people had left for Hubli from the Vijayawada railway station, and were supposed to travel to Bhatkal from Hubli via bus the next day. But to the utter astonishment these people went missing in the mean time and did not reach Bhatkal even after 12 days. It is not known whether these people had even reached Hubli or not.


The missing people have been identified as Bibi Fathima W/o Imran Mashaikh (25), Irfan S/o Imran Mashaikh (4), Khatija Amreen D/o Imran Mashaikh (4 months), Bibi Salma W/o Syed Afsar (23), Syed Sabir S/o Syed Afsar (4), Syed Bashira D/o Syed Afsar (1 and half years) and Syed Hajibi (15)

Speaking to SO, Syed Afsar, the husband of Salma said that he reached Vijayawada from Kuwait soon after he received the news about his missing family. He lodged a complaint with police and tried to search for them with all the relatives, but to no avail. He even went to Hubli to try to find any clues about the missing persons, but even that fetched him nothing.

A case has been registers at Vijayawada II Town Police Station today, i.e, on Saturday, informed S Prasad Rao, the inspector of Vijayawada II Town Police Station.

Speaking to SO, he said that the police have begun the investigations, but they have no clue about anything yet. He also said that the police have no doubt on anybody. He has assured that the police will solve the case within seven days time.


The news has amazed the people of town and people are expressing their disbelief and astonishment over the missing of seven people at a single go. - SO
