The Emirates Identity Authority (Eida) has
extended the deadline for registering national and resident children
under 15 years to tomorrow.
The authority took the decision after taking into consideration the conditions of those who have not been able to register yet so as to help them avoid delay fees.
The authority has earlier announced that the registration of children all over the UAE for the ID card should be made before October 1.
It said the three-day grace period has been given in response to appeals of segment of parents who have missed the deadline of registering their children in the ID and Population Register programme.
This excludes the children whose residence visas expire before December 31 this year, provided they will be registered by the time of renewal of their visas before the year end.
The Eida clarified that the overwhelming rush of applicants to typing centres over the last few days had put a strain on the e-payment system and some clients failed to finalise fee payment in these centres.
The authority urged parents to seize the new grace period to expedite registration of their children through more than 1,200 typing centres across the country. - KT
