Muslims in Mangalore celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr

Mangalore, Aug 19, 2012: Muslims in Mangalore celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr to mark the end of Ramdan, the month of fasting and prayer, on August 19, Sunday. 

Qazi Al Haj Twaka Ahmed Musliyar led the Eid prayers at Idgah on Lighthouse Hill Road in Mangalore at 9:00 a.m. Muslims in their hundreds and thousands gathered at the Idgah to offer prayers. They greeted one another with the words “Eid Mubarak” immediately after the namaz. 
Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramdan, a month of fasting and prayer, during which Muslims are expected to stay away from telling lies, fraud, deceit, and temptations. Ramdan is also a month dedicated to charity, seeking forgiveness for sins, and asking blessings from God.  - MT
