Udupi: Over 20 injured as express bus topples

Udupi, 17 September 2012: A private express bus travelling from Udupi to Mangalore toppled in Mulur near Kaup at NH66 as the driver lost control on Sunday morning and over 20 passengers injured. It is said that the bus was speeding trying to overtake and as the driver had to apply sudden brakes he lost control and the bus toppled and hit the road divider in Mulur near Kaup.

The injured were taken to a nearby hospital in Kaup and the injuries are minor. The incident took place on Sunday morning at 09.45. Kaup Circle Inspector Shivananda Walekar, Police SI Archana K. arrived to the spot and with the help of local people they rescued the injured and cleared the traffic. The case has been registered and the investigation is in progress. - UT
