Dubai:Oct.1: Renewing Indian passports in the UAE is set to cost more
as Indian missions in the Emirates will apply a new fees structure for
services, local daily Khaleej Times reported on Monday.
The fee for renewal of an ordinary passport has been increased from AED150 ($40.8) to AED285 ($77.6), the embassy said.
The fee for Tatkaal (temporary passport) category has been revised to AED855 ($232) from AED700 ($190.5). The additional fee charged for the 60-page Jumbo booklet has been increased from AED40 ($10.9) to AED95 ($25.8).
The fee charged in case of the lost/ stolen/ damage category has been revised from AED505 ($137.4) to AED570 ($155).
The last time the Indian passport fees were revised was in 2002. The ministry attributed the hike in the charges to rising costs and comprehensive reforms that it had been engaged in over the past decade, the report said. - KT
